Creating Your First Program
Build a playlist of media items to display on your screens
What is a program?
A program is a playlist of media items that play in order on your screens. Think of it like a TV show — it has a name, a sequence of images and videos, and settings that control how it plays back. You build programs from the media you've already uploaded to your library.
Programs are reusable. Once you create a program, you can schedule it on any channel, at any time, as many times as you need.
Creating a new program
- Navigate to Programs from the sidebar
- Click Create Program
- Fill in the details:
- Title (required) — give it a descriptive name like "Welcome Slides" or "Easter Special 2024"
- Description (optional) — this is shown on your TV screens to describe the program's content
- Click Create
You'll be taken to the program editor where you can start adding content.
Adding media to your program
From the program editor:
- Click Add Content
- Browse or search your media library — you can filter by type (images, videos), category, or tags
- Select one or more items
- Click Add to insert them into your program
Your media items appear in a playlist. You can drag and drop items using the grip handles to reorder them.
Reordering your playlist
The order of items in your program is the order they play on screen. To rearrange items, grab the drag handle on the left side of any item and drag it to a new position. Your changes are reflected immediately in the playlist — just remember to click Save Changes when you're done.
Setting image duration
Videos play for their full length automatically. For images, you control how long each one displays before the program advances to the next item.
Click the timer icon on any image in your playlist to set its display duration. Choose from preset options or enter a custom time.
Program settings
When creating or editing a program, you have two playback options:
- Loop Program — when enabled, the program repeats from the beginning after the last item finishes. It keeps looping until the next scheduled program begins or the viewer presses Back on the remote.
- Presenter Mode — when enabled, videos autoplay but the program pauses after each item. The presenter advances to the next item manually using the TV remote. This is useful for live presentations where you want to control the pace.
You can change these settings at any time from the program's edit page.
Setting a backdrop image
Each program can have a backdrop image — this is what appears on the TV screen when your program is highlighted in the channel list but hasn't started playing yet.
To set a backdrop:
- On the program page, find the Backdrop section in the sidebar
- Click Change
- You'll see a grid of thumbnail frames extracted from your program's media — pick the one that best represents your program
- The selected frame is saved as your backdrop
Saving your program
After adding content and arranging your playlist, click Save Changes. If you try to navigate away with unsaved changes, you'll see a warning prompt.
You can preview how your program will look on a TV screen by clicking the Preview button in the sidebar. This opens a full-screen preview in a new tab.
What's next?
Now that you have a program, you need a channel to play it on. Head to Creating Your First Channel to set up a channel and get your content on screen.
